American Heart Association Class Summary

Audience: 

Healthcare providers/students that need to learn advanced CPR and ECC techniques for adults (e.g., emergency doctors, emergency medical technicians, clinical exerccise physiologists, nurses, etc.)

Key Concepts:

  • Drug utilization for CPR
  • Airway management during CPR
  • Manual defibrillation, including ECG recognition during CPR
  • Bradycardia management
  • Tachycardia management
  • Asystole/PEA management
  • Megacode practice and testing
  • How to talk to family members when the patient dies

Formats:

Full Class:

  • Approximately 16-20 hours 
  • $235 + cost of the required textbook + gas fee since it is a multiple-day class
  • Requires a current AHA BLS card and passing the AHA ACLS Provider pre-test as pre-requisites

Update Class:

  • Approximately 8 hours
  • Requires a current American Heart Association certification card that is about to expire (ACLS Provider) as a pre-requisite (there may be leniency here due to COVID-19)
  • Requires a current AHA BLS card and passing the AHA ACLS Provider pre-test as pre-requisites
  • Requires the current textbook
  • $140

Hybrid Class:

  • (Approximately 5-6 hours for the skills session) 
  • Pay for the online cognitive portion
  • Pay $100 to Lifesaver CPR for the skills session (practice + testing)
  • Requires current AHA BLS certification

  • Requires more advanced planning than other Lifesaver CPR classes because of the long length of the class and the class requiring a lot of supplies!
